Description:
Pokemon Sage takes place in a fictional region called Urobos. Like many official regions in the Pokémon series, Urobos is based on a real-life region: Central and South America. It features a conflict between two villainous teams based on real-life inhabitants of these areas throughout history, such as the Aztec Empire and the Spanish conquistadors. Despite the general warmth of these areas, the town the player starts in is covered in snow. The player, named either Simon or Sofia by default, has a friendly rival as well as a more acerbic rival who steals the friendly rival's starter Pokémon.
Northington is obsessed with the myth of Quetzar, a Pokémon of incredible power that was was said to bring advancements to the native people in ancient times. So he sets out to find and reawaken it at any cost - but it was the arrogance and greed of people like him that made Quetzar seal itself and the legendary City of Gold away in the first place. He finally finds Quetzar and manages to reawaken it, but it is furious to see that mankind has not learned its lesson and unleashes its wrath.
